Tuesday, 16 February 2010

ImageNick Cave and actor Andy Serkis are planning to create a stop-motion version of Bertold Brecht and Kurt Weill's The Threepenny Opera. News of this project was announced while Serkis was promoting the Ian Dury biopic, Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll in Berlin.

The Threepenny Opera is a loose adaptation of John Gay's 18th Century Beggar's Opera, which tells the story of Macheath, the anti-hero, and his problems with his father-in-law.  Featured in the opera is the song "Mack the Knife," which Cave recorded for the album, September Songs: The Music of Kurt Weill, released in 1995.

At this time, information about cast and crew is unknown.
